Scope and Contents

This series contains records created during efforts to repeal the Dairy Industry Marketing Act. The Repeal Dairy Marketing Act, Initiative 2, appeared on the November 7, 1978 ballot and was the second initiative to pass in the State of South Dakota. It eliminated the State Dairy Products Marketing Commission and removed all prices set by the commission, as well as removing provisions that prohibited certain dairy marketing practices. The first initiative to pass in South Dakota was a 1914 measure requiring the use of headlights on automobiles.
