Scope and Contents

Consists of vertical files on folk cultural subjects, individual folk artists, and folk art communities that were maintained by the State Historical Preservation Center/South Dakota Arts Council Folk Arts Program between 1984 and 1991. Subjects include ethnic communities such as Czech, German-Russian, and Swedish Americans; art forms such as leather work, quill work, and quilting; and artists such as Alice New Holy Blue Legs. Records collected within the files include news clippings, artist information sheets, correspondence, newsletters, and other publications.
