Accreditation Files, 1974 - 1978

Contains records documenting the review of public and private schools for accreditation between 1974 and 1978 and includes accreditation applications, accreditation reports on staff and pupils (including enrollment statistics), school visitation reports, memoranda and correspondence, school calendars and handbooks, staff directories, class schedules, and pupil transportation reports and route maps. Types of schools represented in the records include public school districts (includes districts contracting with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and interstate contracting public schools in neighboring states) and non-public/non-traditional schools (includes private and parochial schools, Indian schools, multidistrict vocational schools, preschool and nursery schools, day schools, Head Start programs, Hutterite colony schools, and state-supported special education schools). The procedures for the accreditation of education programs by the state during this period were outlined in Article 24:03 of the Administrative Rules of South Dakota.
