Scope and Contents
From the Record Group: This record group contains records created and maintained by the South Dakota Department of Education and Cultural Affairs and includes meeting minutes, photographs, publications, correspondence, audio recordings of speeches and presentations, videotape recordings, grant files, school building specifications, budgets and other financial reports, architectural drawings of historic buildings, administrative subject files, posters, and annual reports.

The Division of Higher Education had three main objectives: first, to provide the opportunity for citizen access to appropriate, high quality collegiate and university degree programs and collegiate-level career education programs; second, to provide services to the state's industries, businesses, and agencies in line with the fields of specialization available in the public higher education program; and third, to sponsor and coordinate original and applied research activities appropriate to those fields of specialization.
