Identifier: ACC 90-055:

Scope and Contents

From the Series: This series consists of an audio recording of the South Dakota State University Concert Band and Chorus playing “South Dakota, My Dakota” in February 1988. The song was written by John and Bonnie Cacavas at the request of the South Dakota Centennial Commission. John and Bonnie relinquished copyright of this song to the Commission on April 3, 1989 (see accession file).

In 2017, the audiocassette was sent to Earsay Studios in Sioux Falls to be digitized at the request of a researcher. An MP3 and a WAV file were produced, and can be found in the Archives’ Digital Collections, as well as saved to CD in box 9107A. The Archives’ Digital Collections also includes a PDF scan of the conductor/piano sheet music, which was discovered during the search for the audio recording.
