Administrative History
The Office of the Secretary provided leadership to the divisions of the Department of Education and Cultural Affairs toward to the pursuit of its goals by directing budget preparation, personnel functions, planning efforts, and central service; by reviewing all federal program applications and operations; by acting as a liaison between state and federal officials in areas of involvement by the department; by acting as a resource to the governing boards within the department; and by representing the department in matters involving the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of state government.
