Scope and Contents

Contains records generated by the South Dakota State Library in its role as an associated state agency to the Bibliographic Center for Research between 1975 and 1982. The Bibliographic Center for Research, Rocky Mountain Region, Inc. (BCR) was founded in 1935 as a not-for-profit resource sharing organization focused on assisting researchers and libraries with locating materials held in libraries outside their local community. More recently, the BCR operated as a multi-state regional library services cooperative consisting of over 8000 member libraries in eleven states and offered OCLC products and services, as well as training and consulting services. Membership in the BCR was funded by state library agencies, which paid for membership for all the libraries in their state library network. The BCR was acquired by LYRASIS in 2010, thereafter ceasing to function as an independent organization.

Records include memoranda, correspondence, Articles of Incorporation, by-laws, contracts, audits, annuals reports, Board of Trustees manuals and meeting dockets (include agendas, minutes, and related documents), workshop and seminar materials, and newsletters.
