 Series — Box: 2584
Identifier: ACC 87-002:

Scope and Contents

Consists of Division of Law Enforcement Assistance reports to the committee; draft resolutions; staff notes on discussions of grant applications and grant-funded projects, audit reports on the projects; applications, plans, budgets and task force commentary on grant projects; commission’s planning documents and program descriptions; and copies of related legislation. These files were created and maintained by Jim Smith, Executive Director of the Board of Charities and Corrections, and a commission member. The bulk of the material concerns the Criminal Justice Commission, but some Juvenile Justice Task Force Records are included. Three “Task Forces” were apparently represented on the Commission: Police, Courts/Prosecution/Defense, and Corrections/Juvenile Justice. The Commission oversaw the expenditure of federal Law Enforcement Assistance Administration grant funds in South Dakota.
