Administrative History
The Department of Natural Resources Development (DNRD) was created in the 1970s and largely oversaw climate studies and weather modification in attempts to study and improve weather for crops in the state. Other duties the DNRD was responsible included overseeing the State water plans and the Water Rights Commission.
In 1979 the Dept. of Natura Resources Development along with the Dept. of Environmental Protection was absorbed into the newly created Dept. of Water and Natural Resources.
