Architects Proposals for Cultural Heritage Center, 1986 - 1986
Contains proposals submitted by architectural and engineering firms for the design and construction of the South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center in 1986. Includes proposals from the following firms: Holman Beck Associates, Inc. (Sioux Falls); Meese-Peterson and Foss/ Dunham Associates (Huron); Dana Larson Roubal and Associates/ E.Verner Johnson and Associates, Inc. (Pierre); and Rysavy Hartman Associates (Sioux Falls).
Audiocassettes - Fundraising Campaign, 1988
This series consists of two audiocassettes containing advertisements for the Cultural Heritage Center fundraising campaign. The advertisements use the same text, but one is read by NBC news anchor Tom Brokaw and the other by Dave Dedrick, a Sioux Falls radio and TV personality best known for his role as Captain 11.

Includes images of the construction of the third floor of the Kneip Building, Capitol Complex maintenance, Hilger's Gulch, Health Lab, Cultural Heritage Center, State Library, Becker-Hansen Building, and the construction and dedication of the World War II Memorial. Also includes images of the Tobin House (125 Washington Ave.).

Cultural Heritage Center Construction Negatives, 1987 - 1988
This series includes black & white and color negatives of the Cultural Heritage Center in various phases of construction, Office of History staff members, and images from the 1988 Annual Meeting. Some of these negatives were used to create color slides, which can be found in box 5682A. The negatives were originally stored in photo box P33, but were separated for preservation purposes and scanned by the Preserve America photo digitization project.

This series contains plans and drawings for the “Oyate Tawicoh’an” (“The Ways of the People”) exhibit in the Cultural Heritage Center. It also includes mockup drawings of the “Changing Times” gallery.
Cultural Heritage Center Final Plans (RESTRICTED), 1986
Includes the index cover sheet and copies of original floor plans for the Cultural Heritage Center on file in the State Engineer's Office. The plans were drawn by Holman Beck Associates, Inc. from Sioux Falls under contract with the Office of the State Engineer. The building was completed in 1989.

This accession contains a slide show of images relating to the construction of the Cultural Heritage Center, as well as images of State Historical Society staff members. The slide show was compiled by Martyn Beeny (SDSHS Research & Publishing) to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the dedication of the Cultural Heritage Center.
The slide show is a .wmv file, and is saved both to CD (see box 3998B) and to the N drive. It is approximately 00:04:06 long.

Contains files pertaining to folk arts exhibitions and demonstrations held at the Cultural Heritage Center between 1992 and 1993. Records include memoranda and correspondence, artifact lists, artwork loan receipts, invitations, and pamphlets. Also included are records related to efforts by the Wounded Knee Survivors Association to repatriate 1,000 artifacts held by the Woods Memorial Library in Barre, Massachusetts that were taken from the site of the 1890 Wounded Knee Massacre.

This series contains copies of photographs used in the South Dakota Heritage Fund’s Campaign Bulletin newsletters to promote the Oyate Wicokan exhibit, photos of Gov. George S. Mickelson gathered for the Mickelson Memorial in April 1994, and images of Sioux Falls representatives receiving an award on Philanthropy Day in Nov. 1993.
