Railway Tax Books, 1890 - 1926
This volume consists of a delinquent tax list of taxes owed or paid to Minnehaha County from 1871 to 1882. A typical entry consists of an individual’s name whose taxes are being assessed and the taxes due for each year. This appears to ignore the categories, such as territorial tax or school tax established by the ledger. Non-delinquent taxes have the word ‘paid’ over the tax amount.
