This series consists of correspondence to and from the warden concerning inmates, as well as six folders of miscellaneous correspondence regarding inmates. Arranged in alphabetical order by surname of inmate.

This series consists of correspondence, reports, studies, and minutes relating to the physical facilities, operations, personnel, and population of the institutions governed by the Board. Institutions include the State Penitentiary, Custer State Hospital, Redfield State Hospital, State Veterans’ Home, State Training School, Yankton State Hospital/Human Services Center, Youth Forestry Camp, and Women’s Correctional Facility.

This series contains nine microfilm rolls of prisoner case files from the State Penitentiary. Case files are either organized alphabetically or by assigned case number. Records included in case files are various court documents including court transcripts, correspondence, physical and mental health records, and photographs. Rolls include both original and use copies.
