Prisoners -- Correspondence

This series consists of correspondence to and from the warden concerning inmates, as well as six folders of miscellaneous correspondence regarding inmates. Arranged in alphabetical order by surname of inmate.

This series consists of correspondence, reports, studies, and minutes relating to the physical facilities, operations, personnel, and population of the institutions governed by the Board. Institutions include the State Penitentiary, Custer State Hospital, Redfield State Hospital, State Veterans’ Home, State Training School, Yankton State Hospital/Human Services Center, Youth Forestry Camp, and Women’s Correctional Facility.

This series contains microfilmed versions of the original prisoner case files (see ACC 96-412).

This series contains nine microfilm rolls of prisoner case files from the State Penitentiary. Case files are either organized alphabetically or by assigned case number. Records included in case files are various court documents including court transcripts, correspondence, physical and mental health records, and photographs. Rolls include both original and use copies.

This series contains prisoner case files for the South Dakota State Penitentiary, including suspended sentence, reformatory, out-of-state boarders and federal boarders. Files include judgments, official statements, entrance records, lists of letters sent & received, applications for parole, and photographs.

This series contains the case files of inmates from the State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, from 1878 to 1959. Case files include judgments, official statements, entrance records, prisoner records, a list of letters sent and received, and applications for parole.
