This series consists of one copy of the “Report Documenting the History of the Crow Creek Dam Project,” which was prepared for the South Dakota State Historic Preservation Office by the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe and the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1995. The report contains a narrative history of the project; safety investigations and the decision to remove the dam; copies of correspondence, newsletters, and photographs; and project plan sheets.

Scope and Contents This series contains copies of maps and profiles created by the East Dakota Conservancy Subdistrict while exploring the potential impacts of placing a dam along Willow Creek. Focuses on the northbound land of I-29 in T117N, R51 and 52W. This series contains pamphlets, booklets, and newspaper articles related to Missouri River development. The publications were collected by the Secretary of the Department of History.

This series contains two general layout Phase I construction drawings of the Pierre Airfield, Oahe Reservoir with a schedule of the housing and facilities, also an inset vicinity map showing the location from Pierre and the Missouri River. The drawings are 29” by 40” and on heavy white paper.

Scope and Contents

This is a collection of photos and negatives, taken of sites under development for reservoirs, dams, boating and tourism facilities in South Dakota. The earliest photos were taken in 1946 and the last around 1970. Some of the negatives and photos are labeled with an identification number. Some photos combine to form a panoramic image of the areas.

This accession contains subject/project files kept by the State Highway Commission from 1919 to 1962. Subject files consist of the correspondence, contracts, requests for plans, bids, specifications, maps, construction drawings, budgets, and other records associated with Highway Commission construction projects.
