Fighting Stallions Memorial Records, 1993 - 1994

Scope and Contents This collection consists of correspondence, reports, plans, photographs, slides, blueprint maps and construction video documenting the memorial from the planning stages through the dedication ceremony on April 19, 1994. The Fighting Stallions Memorial, located on the Capitol grounds in Pierre, was constructed by the people of South Dakota as a lasting memorial to eight South Dakotans, including Governor George S. Mickelson, who died in an airplane crash near Dubuque, IA on April 19, 1993.
