Scope and Contents Consists of files maintained by the Department of Highways pertaining to the Rapid City Flood of 1972. The flood occurred on June 9-10, 1972 when more than ten inches of rain fell in six hours, producing flooding on Rapid Creek and other Black Hills streams and leaving 238 dead and over 3,000 injured.
