Blunt (S.D.)

This series contains the Hughes County Assessor’s lists of taxable property from 1888 to 1950 for Blunt. Records contain the following information: name of property owner, a list of real property and assessed value, as well as a list of personal property and assessed value (including livestock, carriages/vehicles, furniture, machinery, and luxury items like musical instruments or watches).

The Hughes County files include information on police departments, counseling services, recreation assessments and developments, planning grants, development studies, and zoning maps for the area.

This series consists of six photographs taking during the summer of 2000 at the Mentor Graham House in Blunt, South Dakota. The Mentor Graham House was damaged by flooding the previous spring, and a special Historic Preservation Day was organized to try to repair the damage.
